Photos: Man livesteams his suicide via Facebook Live

A man was found dead on Tuesday, September 6th in Thailand after live streaming his suicide via Facebook Live. Charoen Chimphuk was found dead inside an apartment in Soi Phaholyothin, Bangkok, the morning after he filmed himself hanging himself in a streaming video which ran for about 30 minutes.
His 24 year old wife, Sangrawee Omdee, told police she rushed to the residence after seeing the 30-year-old was preparing to hang himself through the live broadcast streamed via his personal account on 11:46pm.
Titled “Just a man going to die,” the live video showed a calm Charoen making preparations for about 19 minutes to hang himself from a ceiling fan. He is mostly silent the entire time apart from some comments about his family
"I have nothing left," he says at one point.
His body remains suspended motionless for another dozen minutes or so. The video is still available but a content warning had been added by Facebook by Tuesday afternoon.
"His wife was not suspicious about his death and believes it was a suicide," said police Col. Amnat Intharasuan of Bang Khen Police Station. "Though the case is being investigated by the police’s office of forensic science, as it must be."
Sangrawee told police she has lived with Charoen for five years, and the two have a 3-year-old daughter. She recently found out he was having an affair with another woman, so she had left him. She said the room where Charoen hanged himself was where he went to see the other woman. Police said they did not find the live video suspicious and believe Charoen hanged himself of his own free will.

23-year-old activist and ex student leader becomes Hong Kong's youngest lawmaker

Nathan Law Kwun-chung, a 23-year-old student leader from Hong Kong who burst onto the scene in 2014 as one of five student leaders who led popular protests against Chinese rule of the island has bagged 50818 votes to earn himself a seat on the legislature. The electoral victory makes him the youngest ever elected member of the legislative council.

That title was previously held by veteran Democrat James To Kun-sun when he was elected in 1991 at the more advanced age of 28.

Law said: “It can be described as a miracle that I won. It was out of my imagination that I won with more than 50,000 votes. The [large number of] votes will remind me to do better and not to let people down in the next four years.”  His political ascension is not what he has always had in mind as he saw politics as a dirty game.

The reserved and soft-spoken student leader told the Post in June he had never thought of entering politics when he was younger, as he considered it “a dirty game with people fighting among one another for self-interest”.

In April, Law and others founded Demosisto, with Joshua Wong Chi-fung who led the now-disbanded student group, Scholarism.

They pledged to work for the city’s “self-determination”. In its manifesto, the party stated it would hold a referendum in 10 years to let Hongkongers decide their own fate beyond 2047, when the principle of “one country, two systems” officially expires, and would adopt non-violent protest tactics.

Law who was born in 1993 moved to Hong Kong from mainland China with his mother in order to reunite with his father. An avid video gamer, Law became an e-sports commentator in 2012 and used to host a live online gaming show.
